The Bundaberg Region

Only four hours drive north of Brisbane, and situated at the Southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, is the regional city of Bundaberg. The city is home to over 47 000 people combining a mixture of big city facilities, services and small town hospitality and lifestyle, with a superb climate and low cost living.  Bundaberg is located in the heart of a rich sugar and horticultural belt and is the commercial capital and hub of the region supporting a regional population of over 100,000.

The Burnett River flows through the City, and is like the virtual artery that keeps the heart beating; it is flanked by parklands and recreational areas, and is home to one of our national icons the Platypus, and also one of the rarest marine -dewellers in the world, the Ceratodus or Lungfish.  The river also supports a myraid of activities for locals and tourists alike, offering river cruises, heart pumping waterskiing, powerboat racing, tranquil sheltered sailing waters and access to the Great Barrier Reef.

In many parts of the world, Bundaberg is readily identifiable with the locally manufactured Famous Bundaberg Rum, and naturally brewed Ginger Beer and Bundaberg Sugar.  The city heart allows you to immerse yourself in the culture of the city, the Bundaberg Arts Centre located in the historic Customs House exhibits local and touring artists in its three exhibition spaces.  Bundaberg's art is not just confined to the galleries, you can stroll along the streets and admire the locally produced street art, or be reminded of Austrlia's heritage with the ornate facades of the buildings and shop awnings while you follow the brass plaques of the city's Heritage walk.  Mingle with the locals at one of the many clubs or pubs or take in a show at the Moncrieff Theatre, all of whom offer live entertainment form visiting heasdline acts or superb local talent on a regular basis.

Take time to discover our amazing city and lifestyle for yourself.
