Mon Repos supports the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on the eastern Australian mainland and is the most significant loggerhead turtle nesting population in the South Pacific Ocean region. Sucessful breeding here is critical for the survival if this endangered species.
More people visit Mon Repos each year to watch nesting turtles and emerging turtle hatchlings. Turtles are easily disturbed if correct turtle watching guidelines are not followed.

Families consist of 1 or more parents with 1 or more children aged between 5-17 yrs old.
Please note when booking, that educational groups and families ARE NOT AVAILABLE ONLINE and can only be booked by calling (07) 4153 8888.

Bookings are essential with some nights being booked out, bookings will be taken from the 1st September in each calendar year with the season ending mid to late March.

Turtles cannot been seen between the months of April to early November.

 Mon Repos - Turtle Experience Tour
Ranger guided tours operate seven nights a week from November to late March, excluding 24th, 25th and 31st December.
Please note that your booking is not confirmed until full payment has been made, if full payment has not been received 24 hrs prior to the tour the booking may be cancelled, your booking will only be available for the night that appears on ticket.
Nesting turtles are best viewed after dark, from November to January.
Turtle hatchlings are best viewed at night from January to March.

Please be aware that turtles are wild marine animals and we cannot guarantee you will see either nesting turtles or hatchlings. On occasional evenings turtles do not arrive.

Between the months of November to April from 6pm and 6am, public access to Mon Repos beach is CLOSED. Turtle viewing is through the Mon Repos Information Centre from 7pm November to March only.

There are small opportunities to use a camera, the Rangers and guides will advise when this can happen.


Directions:

# From Bundaberg City
To access Mon Repos, travel east from Bundaberg towards BARGARA. Eight kilometres east of the city, you'll reach a large roundabout surrounded by sugarcane fields. Turn left towards the PORT, travel for 2 kms, then take the first signed turn-off to the right (the sign will say MON REPOS TURTLE ROOKERY). Follow this road almost to the beach and caravan park, turning off to the left at the TURTLE ROOKERY sign. This road will take you past the Research Centre to the visitors carpark at the entrance to the Information Centre.

# From Bargara
If you are staying at Bargara, travel back towards Bundaberg along the Bargara Road until you see the Bargara State School on the right. Turn here down Potters Road and at the end turn right. This will lead you along Grange Road into Mon Repos.

# Public Transport
There is no local bus service to Mon Repos Beach day or evening. Taxi fares can start at around $30 each way ph: 13 1008.

# Disabled Access
For those with mobility access difficulties, boardwalks and ramps access all parts of the visitor centre - including toilets - and ramps lead to the beach. However, the beach is sandy and turtles may nest at some distance from the visitor centre or high in the dunes.
There is one beach wheelchair available for public use, however needs to be booked in advance by calling Mon Repos Conservation Park on 07-4159 1652. Some conditions do apply.

Please note that all tours cancelled by the visitor within 24hrs of a booked tour will attract a $25.00 cancellation fee.
Bookings will first be offered to be moved to another evening of your choice fee free.
